Verilog.Net organizes language knowledge, engineering practice, and carefully scoped historical context so readers can move from a question to the right kind of source.
Purpose
The site's original purpose was direct and practical: maintain a useful set of Verilog resources for engineers. Documentation, free tools, vendor categories, books, magazines, and verification material were separate because they answered different questions. This edition keeps that structure and adds explanatory guides where a bare directory would leave the reader guessing.
The primary audience includes people learning hardware description, designers checking a language or synthesis assumption, verification engineers planning evidence, and maintainers trying to understand an older flow. The goal is orientation. A reader should be able to identify the correct technical layer, recognize dated context, and continue to a source that is appropriate for the claim.
Editorial boundaries
Historical tool and company names are used only to explain the categories and market relationships represented in the period material. They do not establish present availability, compatibility, ownership, or support. Current external references are selected for direct relevance and checked as individual destinations, but their content remains under the control of their publishers.
This is not a marketplace, software distribution service, vendor support channel, recruiting service, or contact directory. It does not publish personal contact details, solicit submissions or advertising, host commercial product pages, or route readers toward old purchase mechanisms. Downloads that cannot be represented with clear current licensing and origin are not served.
Independent by design
Verilog.Net is not affiliated with the standards bodies, publishers, projects, or companies named in its editorial pages. Names and marks identify the subjects being discussed. Inclusion is not endorsement, and omission is not a judgment on technical merit. A tool or method must be evaluated against the reader's current language version, design, target, workflow, license, and support requirements.
The visual language is intentionally technical without borrowing a vendor identity: signal traces, drafting grids, restrained color, and original abstract illustrations. Navigation preserves the direct character of an engineering directory while the page text supplies context that old lists could not.
Reader responsibility
Hardware and tool decisions have consequences beyond syntax. Validate examples in a controlled project, read the applicable licenses, preserve reproducible commands, and use the appropriate standard and tool manual for authoritative details. Security-sensitive, safety-critical, regulated, or production decisions require review by qualified people operating within the relevant process.
